RCRCM Composite and Competition Glider Announcement

Postby Canterbury Sailplanes » Fri Jul 16, 2010 12:31 pm

We are super excited to announce that we are now the New Zealand distributor of the very popular RCRCM range of composite and competition sailplanes.

Our first shipment has arrived which includes some Minivecs, Typhoons and a Sigma II (F3B version). We have access to all their range and can order what ever you want outside of what we are stocking at the time. We will stock more of their models as time goes on aiming to have the entire range in stock here in the near future.

These airframes rival anything that is coming out of Europe today. The Sigma II even won the F3F winter league in the UK recently over quite a few big names.

I will be out and about soon with a demonstration model. Other wise if you can't wait for that, check them out on flycs.com or come in to see them in the flesh.

One of those Typhoons is calling me, it'd be a perfect step up from the wings and small gliders that I currently fly.
I just watched some videos on speedfreeks.com showing the Typhoon doing some impressive aerobatic Dynamic Soaring, I'm sold.
Just let me scrape together some money :)

Absolutely, just what I needed.......yet another plane to add to my collection :D

I did mull over the colour options, and was thinking black or blue originally, but then this little voice in my head said " a dark plane may look cool, but it's going to be harder to see on the dark side of a DS loop".

Hmm, good looks or practicality, I'll think on it some more.

Shane, do you have any orange Typhoons in stock ?
If not, how long will they take to arrive ?
Also, what type of servos and battery are recommended for this plane ?

By the way, the video newsletter is a great idea, effective way to get the word out on new products.

Yep, I have an orange one.

Servos in the wings could be any type of thin wing servo. We are stocking the HS-125MG for that. For the other servos, you could use any other small servo like the HS-85MG, HS-82MG, HS-56HB etc. As for the battery, RCRCM recomend the use of a LiPo obviously with some sort of regulator. But any sort of large capacity 4.8V NiMh battery will also do if you are like me and haven't evolved into LiPo receiver batteries.

As far as the batteries go, I've gone full circle. Started with NimH, experimented with Lipos in slope soarers, ( soon realised that they weren't worth the risk of burning down a slope site in the event of a big crash ), so I went back to NinH.
If you've ever seen a crushed Lipo spew out flames like a blow torch, you'll know what I mean.

I'm placing an order for that orange Typhoon now, can't wait to get my hands on it !!!
